Our Director is Mr. B. Christopher Warren, a Tucson native. Mr. Warren was for twenty years a US Army bandmaster, and has more than fifteen years experience working with college, high school, middle school and elementary school musicians. He joined the Wade Carpenter Middle School staff in January, 2007.
Mr. Warren earned a Bachelor of Music (Theory and Composition) degree from the University of Arizona where he studied composition with Daniel Asia and conducting with Gregg I. Hansen. He also holds a Master of Arts in Education from Tennessee Technological University (Cookeville), where he studied composition with Robert Jager and conducting with Joseph W. Hermann. He has also studied conducting with John Boyd and music theory with Robert Muczynski.
Instrumental Music Director
In
the Army, Chief Warrant Officer (CW4, Retired) Warren commanded and
conducted the 24th Mechanized Infantry Band, Fort Stewart, Georgia; the
8th US Army Band, Seoul, Korea; and the 36th Army Band, Fort Huachuca,
Arizona. He previously taught at Faith Lutheran School, Pusch Ridge
Christian Academy and Sunnyside High School, all in Tucson.
Among
his many awards and military honors are two awards of the Meritorious
Service Medal and the Legion of Merit; he has twice been selected for
"Who's Who in the West". Mr. Warren was the 2008 candidate from
Carpenter Middle School for Santa Cruz County Teacher of the Year. Mr.
Warren is a member of the Music Educators National Conference and the
Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association. He is a member of Phi
Mu Alpha (Sinfonia) and an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi.
Mr.
Warren, a tubist, guitarist, bassist and bass guitarist, is a
writer-member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and
Publishers. Cimarron Music Press currently publishes his music..
